Cloudy Bay Te Wahi 750ml

Description

In its relentless passion for exploring new territories, Cloudy Bay arrived in 2010 at the most extreme, southerly and continental New Zealand terroir: Central Otago. Te Wahi was born. It expresses the mysterious side of Central Otago through Cloudy Bay’s winemaking lens. The southernmost vineyard on earth, an untamed and hostile territory where Cloudy Bay decided to grow its most exclusive wine. The Te Wahi wines share a wild and dark heart with silky texture and brooding structure. "It takes time to understand 'the place'," says Viticulturist Jim White. "With our work in this region, we have corne to learn the raw terroir and to hone our skills in expressing Central Otago Pinot Noir through the Cloudy Bay winemaking lens."

Tasting Notes

The Aromatics of the Te Wahi Pinot Noir burst with red and black cherries, black plum and rich Christmas cake spices. As the wine unfolds, smoky flint and floral flavours appear. The wine is youthful on the palate with sweet fruit framed by bright acidity. The texture is supple with a velvety, yet firm tannin structure. The finish is long, focused and complex. The favourite pairings for Te Wahi include wild game and duck, venison and wagyu beef.
